ABOUT US

RoleModels Foundation is an association not for gain. The organisation was established in 2009 with official Non-Profit Organisation registration granted in February 2011.

RoleModels Foundation focus on the eradication of poverty through education and support 3 projects:

  • Imfundo Project support approximately 200 children from informal settlements in Educare facilities in preparation for formal schooling. The project also focus on entrepreneurial skills development projects to empower disenfranchised individuals to become economically active.
  • Asante Neo Life Project focus on abused women and children, providing immediate relief in conflict situations, restoring dignity and reintegration into the community.
  • Tamakhulu Project focus on senior citizens providing food security and providing assistance with housing needs.

Impoverished, children become impoverished illiterate adults. Sad, but a fact of life in our country. To address this scourge, a fundamental different change in approach is essential. Looking differently at school readiness but also changing the outcome of the state supported schooling system where young adults can become economically active through entrepreneurial skills development .

In a recent study it was found that a child’s life out-come is most heavily predicted on their development in the first seven years of life. It is the opportunities for learning and development in those crucial years that determines whether the child’s potential is realised in adult life.

Therefore, RoleModels Foundation’s determination to reach out to the most disadvantaged/impoverished individuals in the poorest communities of South-Africa, creating opportunities for a safe, stable and sustainable educational environment. Providing sustenance, both in the physical and mental realm to create a healthy and stable individual.

OUTREACH PROGRAMS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Short Term Goal:

To provide ongoing sustainable Edu-care facilities in destitute communities. Focusing on the provision of two meals a day with and educational program focusing on the preparation of the beneficiary for the main stream educational system in South Africa.

The implementation of skills development programs focusing on entrepreneurial efficiency, equipping unemployed individuals in the age group 18-25 years of age to establish micro enterprises that can sustain immediate income needs, supported by an all inclusive mentor pro-gram to ensure long term exponential sustainable economic growth.

Medium Term Goal:

To expand the short term goal with the collaboration of the Department of Social Development and the Department of Health to serve the need of that portion of the community who receive an income beneath the acknowledged poverty line. It is foreseen that the Edu-care outreach programs, established in this phase, provide for at least 2000 beneficiaries living in destitute communities within South Africa.

The implementation of after school care centres where children of disadvantaged communities will have access to resources, encouraging such beneficiaries to obtain at least a grade 12 qualification. Beneficiaries that were enrolled in the initial Edu-care outreach programs will receive direct benefit from this program.

Long Term Goal:

  • All inclusive educational support network for disadvantaged individuals in South Africa, not only ensuring school readiness but also school retention, increasing the general scholastic level and supporting tertiary education for gifted individuals.
  • The establishment of a Cooperative Association of individuals that were beneficiaries of the educational support network and skills development programs. So as to create local, provincial, national and international business opportunities; in order to grow the well established micro enterprises into business entities that can provide the wider community with development opportunities.
  • Initiating and sustaining a sport development trust for gifted individuals in disadvantaged communities to provide opportunities for the optimum development of their skills to compete on a national and international level.
  • Initiating and sustaining an arts development trust for gifted individuals in disadvantaged communities with opportunities to develop their gift, in order to support them-selves financially, as well as to also assist with the development of other individuals.
  • Constructing and sustaining orphanages for children with no parents and children from abusive backgrounds, creating equal opportunities for those most vulnerable in the community.
  • Constructing and sustaining care centres for senior citizens residing in impoverished communities, providing security but also including said individuals’ skills and experience in the mentor programs of the skills development programs.
  • Constructing and sustaining places of safety for abused women, providing skills development programs to provide means of self sustainability and reintegration in the community.
